Providing outstanding services
Camden is the UK’s only council to be rated ‘outstanding’ in the three key services of adult social care, children’s and youth justice services.
We are working hard to keep these services strong, by spending £87m on children and early years, and over £130m on adult social care.
Investing in our council housing
Everyone deserves to have a safe, warm and secure roof over their head.
We are investing £670 million in our council homes, such as heating, windows and roofs, as well as having recently announced an extra £29.9m fund to retrofit around 3,000 council homes, cutting bills and reducing carbon emissions.
A greener Camden
Camden’s Labour council is taking bold action on the climate emergency across our borough, from protecting our green spaces to ensuring our buildings and homes are energy efficient.
We have installed 370 cycle hangars, planted 600 trees per year and delivered over 550 electric vehicle charging points across the Camden.
Cutting the cost-of-living
We know that many people across the borough find it difficult to make ends meet.
That’s why we have invested £34m towards our Council Tax Support scheme, one of the most generous in the UK, supporting those most in need and reducing bills for over 22,000 residents.
We also spend over £2m on our Cost-of-Living Fund, a lifeline support for 3,000 households and have renewed our £500 pregnancy grant payments.
Cleaning up our streets
We are proud to live in Camden and want everyone to be proud of their local area.
We have invested £35m on rubbish and recycling collections, keeping our streets clean and thriving.
This year, we’ve also increased spending on street cleaning by £1m, with improved bin collections and increased jet washing of our high streets, as well as a crack-down on fly-tipping.
Tackling the housing crisis
Under Labour, Camden has built 1,700 new homes with plans to build more affordable, high-quality housing for local families.
Camden will spend almost £28m this year on supporting the homeless and preventing homelessness, with two new shelters under construction.
Keeping our communities safe
While crime is reducing in the borough, too many people within our communities still feel unsafe.
That’s why we are investing an additional £1 million to recruit more Community Safety Enforcement Officers to boost visible patrols as part of £6.3 million to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour across Camden, as well as a new electric Camden safety bus to enhance community engagement and safety.
Since 2022, we have nearly doubled the number of CCTV cameras on our estates to deter crime and respond quickly.
