I’m Nanouche Umeadi and I am honoured to be your Labour candidate at the upcoming by-election in Regent’s Park.
I grew up in Mornington Crescent and saw firsthand the disruption that HS2 brought to our community. My family have deep roots in Regent’s Park, and my mum still works at Regent High School. I care deeply about our community, and want to be your voice at the Town Hall, fighting for you day-in, day-out.
The Green Party have taken you for granted. They stood a candidate who was not eligible to become a councillor, wasting over £20,000 of your taxes.
Regent’s Park deserves a committed councillor who will work hard for you all year round. If you elect me, I will make sure Regent’s Park’s voice is heard at the top table in a Labour council. If a Green candidate is elected, they will lack the real power, influence, and knowledge to deliver for our community over the next 4 years.
As your councillor, I will ensure that the council is hard at work delivering for Regent’s Park by investing £56.6 million to improve our council housing, supporting residents with the cost of living crisis, holding HS2 to account by securing extended compensation support for residents and businesses, and ensuring that the Euston development brings the high-quality, social and affordable homes that our community needs.
At the recent elections, Labour were only 37 votes away from winning a seat. This by-election will be close and every vote will count. I would be honoured to have your support on 9th July so I can get to work for our community.
Read my plan for Regent’s Park:
Working with the Labour Government to ensure that the new Euston development delivers the quality, affordable homes needed in Regent’s Park, as well as making sure that traffic disruption from HS2 construction is minimised.
£56.6 million to improve and repair our council housing in Regent’s Park, as part of a £670 million investment across Camden, including new roofs, windows and heating – reducing bills and cutting costs for residents.
A named Community Safety Officer residents can contact in our area, as well as more CCTV to help us fight antisocial behaviour, including dog fouling and fly-tipping.
Helping residents most in need by delivering a £2 million Cost of Living Fund, as well as a Council Tax Support Scheme, currently reducing council tax bills for 1,504 households in Regent’s Park ward.
More street cleaning and jetwashing our high streets, planting more trees, improving waste collections, and rolling out community skip events to help residents dispose of bulky waste for free.
Support our ‘outstanding’ children’s services, provide an extra after-school club in each school, and continue with universal free school meals.
